Fostering trust between law enforcement and the community is essential for safer streets. Our organization is working to achieve this through efforts made in both the public sector and directly within police departments. At the heart of this work is the Declaration of Respect.
DECLARATION
OF RESPECT
Serve | Protect | Respect

1966 | A STEP BACK IN TIME
The Miranda Rights were written into law as a reminder to officers their responsibility when interacting with civilians, and as a reminder to civilians the power they inherently hold. We are working to introduce another verbal tool for building trust and promoting de-escalation.
We call it the Declaration of Respect.
THE DECLARATION
"As an officer, I am committed to treating you with dignity and respect. I will work to keep you from harm, and I will not use unnecessary force."
OUR WORK
Beyond the Declaration, we are taking action in other areas to address the root cause of mistrust between the police and the public.
